Artist Statement
Hi friends, I'm Mia!
I’ve always been a creative person at heart, and I come from a creative family. My mother shared her love of art, sewing, and baking and my father, a restauranteur, designed gorgeous interiors to complement his fabulous Italian cooking. My sisters and I had a rich and varied tapestry of beauty in our lives. However, I never really experimented with my own creative ability as I was busy with work, family, and just life.
While managing the busy social work department at Hope Clinic, in Ypsilanti, I found a need to unwind at the end of my days, that's really when I turned to my creative outlets. Once my husband and I became empty nesters, I embraced “me time” and allowed myself to really focus on my artistic talents. It felt like an expansion of a part of me I never knew existed.
I love working in watercolor primarily, but anything with paint, textiles, or even gardening are really exciting to me!
I LOVE flowers and any chance I get to be in nature, or my art studio I'm happy!
Thank you for stopping by!
