Inaugural year recipients are co-winners and Leland School students, Hannah Hammelin and Olive Ryder. Hannah and Olive will be featured in the LWA 2023 show at the Old Art Building from October 20 - 22 along with LWA member artists. For more information on this show please visit our EVENTS PAGE.
This award was formally presented at the Leland School Board meeting on Monday, May 15 of this year at 6:00pm.
Hannah Hammelin (sophomore) “loves using water color and likes to mix it up with other mediums.” Salvador Dail is one of Hannah’s favorite artists. She loves mountain biking and says “it is an honor to have her work displayed and even for sale.”
Olive Ryder (junior) says “being able to express herself though art is what inspires her.” Pencil and acrylics are her favorite mediums. She feels most creative when she is outside. Olive plays volleyball and soccer. “Her goal is to have every piece (of art) have meaning that someone else can connect to.”
